「人は人、私は私。」 [Mizuki Nana, Smile-Gang]

World of M is worth listening to this week.
水樹奈々のMの世界 #086 (2011,02,19) ゲスト:能登麻美子

For the second time in World of M history, Noto Mamiko appears as guest! Hearing the two of them squee-ing is cute. Nana-san refers to their time together on there as “rabu-rabu talk.” XD
Admittedly, I got a better laugh from the letters the listeners sent in. XDD

About Smile-Gang…

水樹奈々 スマイルギャング第464回【デジラジ音源】

For once, the school corner takes on a slightly serious tone. Nana-san was asked to speak/encourage people who were suffering from situations mentioned by Misato. In one situation, Nana-san says something that was almost exactly the same as what she once said in an interview a few years back. I recall that it was after reading that interview I came to truly respect Mizuki Nana.
Roughly, in Smile-Gang, she said:

“Don’t get flustered. Never compare yourself with others. ‘Others are others. I am me.’ If you compare yourself, you will come to stop in your steps. The comparison will become your goal and there will be no more room for improvement. Chances may come later, but that’s part of who you are. Believe that there are people who are watching the amount of effort you put in, and the links between people will lead you somewhere.”

In the magazine interview from years back (I should go find it again), she once said:
“Others are others, I am me. If there’s time to be thinking that (about others), then there’s no excuse not to work harder.”

^I held this quote to heart at the time because it left a really deep impression on me, so anything that relates back to this quote is worth noting down in my opinion. :3

  1. Thanks for the post. It looks kinda stupid of me to post the previous comment about the insert song.
I enjoyed a lot when I heard there was a special guest. Honestly I almost screamed like a little girl. Kyaa~~ I couldnt really get the topic. I think it is about stories from listeners.
To be honest, it was kinda different when I heard this week Smile Gang. A lot of motivation speeches. But the quote of Nana chan is quite inspiring. I gotta write down somewhere. 🙂
    Cheers

    • Don’t worry about it. :3 I hadn’t made this post yet when you posted that previous comment. I hope you managed to find it successfully.
Listeners sent in funny stories about people around them, and the two of them went through the letters and decided which one was ‘the best’ (or the most ‘super natural’, though I’m assuming their super natural is not our everyday definition of supernatural in English because it wouldn’t make sense. XD)
Even Nana-san and Misato mentioned feeling a little off with the lack of silliness in Smile-Gang this week. XDD

  2. LOL at rabu-rabu talk. She often says sth like this when talking about Mamiko. Please Nana, don’t put any weird imagination into fangirls’ head XD Btw, seems like their “supernatural” means weird more than its exact meaning.
Despite her usual silly self, she can be so serious sometimes. Those are inspiring pharses. Her strong-willed attitude is another thing that makes her an admirable person.
